How to make a thumbnail?

I want to take an image from a video and turn it into a thumbnail? Ideally making it brighter/more colorful.

Is there a really easy way to do this?

And if it's a video that you're currently editing, some video editing programs let you take snapshots from your workstation. I know Adobe Premiere let's me do this. It's a fancy feature.

Just pause your video, make it to be JPEG and edit it with Photoshop

The easiest way to do this without any "photoshop type" program are websites. I can't remember that names of them right now, but there are a ton of website where you can use a simple editor to make a solid thumbnail. All you need on your end in the base JPEG file.

That's what I do too, haha! Pretty basic. I also put text in the paused screenshot so it will be visible in the thumbnail.

This. I know Sony Vegas definitely has that feature too, and it's really handy! After that's done, just import your saved picture into a photo-editing software, adjust the colours, add text that stands out, maybe add some graphics and you're done!
