How to maintain viewership... Woes from the pigeon-hole...

Hello everyone! I'll keep this short and sweet!

I have a gaming variety channel. I do Skyrim mod reviews, some vlogs here and there, and of course Let's Plays. Now I have a problem... I used to really only do Skyrim Mods - therefore a bulk of my subscriber-ship comes from those successful videos (most of them 10k+ views). My Let's Plays on the other hand consistently get less than 1K views...

What the hell do I do...

6.1K+ subs and the majority of them are not interested in my videos :(

Maybe I'm just blowing off steam. I'm very thankful and grateful they subbed! But I have no idea what I should do with my channel.

Unfortunately for gaming channels this is always likely to happen. People will have different interests in different games. For e.g. I watched 2bfp The Last Of Us, the entire playthrough, because it was an interesting game and I didn't want to buy it at the time (that changed when I saw them play it -.-) but once that playthrough ended, I barely watched any of their other releases for the next few weeks until they started doing Beyond Two Souls. I was subbed long before though xD but the only thing you can do is continue doing what you enjoy. I have a smiliar problem on my channel where quite a few of my subs came from my Defiance playthrough, but because my mate went awol I can't play it anymore so it's on hold. This means the subs that were originally interested in that particular title, aren't that interested in the other games I play. Although I did get a nice comment from someone, JideoTV, saying they enjoy watching my ACIV because they don't intend to get it :D but I mix up the channel with some GTA IV crap at the moment too. Not much you can do really. It boils down to interests sometimes.

Well you have to look at it this way... If you were just an average guy, what would you wanna watch on youtube? Would you want to watch someone play a simple everyday game? Or would you want to look at your favorite game changed to something better?

Gaming videos that contain mods usually get viewed more because it's common urge to check out that specific change, because it's not everyday when we see one of our favorite games changed into something better. I haven't seen your videos so I don't know what your mod or letsplay videos contain, but if you want your LetsPlay videos more noticeable, you have to do things that makes it stand out from the rest (which is kind of pointless, since most letsplay videos are the same, so theres no room for originality.) The best thing you can do is

1. Make a letsplay video of a recent game that you're sure that everyone would want to see (because hell, wouldn't you wanna look at some letsplays about a game that JUST came out?

2. Use different variety of mods for your letsplays.

I'm not sure if it's helpful, but hey, i'm trying. i wish you best of luck and i'll make sure to check out some of your videos!

Thanks guys - like I said I'm actually really thankful for my success, it's just sometimes frustrating. Being a full-time student, and having a part-time job, all my my free time goes into my channel because it is my passion.

I'm actually making a Skyrim mod video now; maybe I'll just do myself a shameless plug-in to see if I can increase traffic to my Let's Plays. ;)

But anyway thanks Andrew and Infinite! I'll be sure to check out your channels :)[DOUBLEPOST=1383886163,1383886070][/DOUBLEPOST]Sorry for the double post, but where did you make that awesome intro Andrew? :)

I followed some tutorials on how to make a 3D earth, how to make 3D text and how to wrap text around a cylinder. All done in After Effects. I added my own touches here and there xD The music was made by my mate Phulmetal, he used his own drum sounds and his piano/keyboard to record the all the sounds to put togheter, he used FL Studio to put everything togheter.

It it kinda the same with me....LP videos gets like 2-4 view ( in 3 days...after that I don't know ) but like other not normal stuff gets more...only 206 subs....but I understand how you feel

Yeah, I think it all just comes down to interest and passion. I legitimately enjoy making Let's Plays so if at least one person is watching, I'll keep doing it - I mean it allows me to hone my skills in Sony Vegas and Photo Shop, which could be valuable one day. By the way, expect a sub from me guys :) share the love, ya know?

Honestly, unless you are actually losing subs when you post the other kinds of videos, I wouldn't worry too much about it. People subscribe for different reasons. I lost about 20 when I started posting Hearthstone videos which wasn't entirely expected but it's not that big a deal either. My suggestion would be to definitely NOT focus on only one game. Eventually that community will dry up and you'll be left holding the bag. Keep the variety going, keep the quality as high as possible and teach them to love you as a personality regardless of your content.

I do gaming skits with my friends and I have about 1500 subs and most of them aren't responsive.

I have 2 skits that have over 14k views (Ducktales Remastered and The Last of Us) which ended up getting me a ton of subs, but most of those subs don't really watch the other skits.

However, don't worry about the dead weight and be grateful for the subs you have.
