you know i really wonder what the gray area line is for channel advertising. Don't get me wrong people can post " your videos are s**t and you sound a retard" and i'll look the other way but once it gets to "i make black op 2 videos come to subscribe" then i'll block in a heart beat. on Reddit they sort of have the same mentality and is it really to that degree that posting videos up there is like the black ops 2 spam? heck why are people even on this forum, yeah channel advertising and maybe tips and stuff. :)
 
I wouldn't mind someone doing it in a friendly way. If it's subtle and a nice comment then I wouldn't bat an eye. I can't control my viewers though so if they down vote it then I can't control that.
 
OK, I'll give you one example. Just like I put links for my videos people send me links to their videos. Most of the links I receive are auto generated messages check my music video blah and I delete them. But you can tell when people really write honest message about their video. So a couple of months ago I received a message from a girl that liked my music playlist a lot and that she is a singer trying to make it and if I could check her songs. We exchanged a couple of messages and I checked her channel and I was amazed by her songs. So I shared some of her songs with my friends and that was it. I wouldn't call that spamming. She thinks that her work is good and that I would be interested to see it cause I also like music. I was interested, I liked it and I shared it and that's it. That's the same thing I do. If the video I advertise is good, response from the people is very positive.
