How To Know When a Channel Isn't Working

Gaming is one of if not THE biggest category on YouTube. This means it's very difficult nowadays to grow your gaming channel.

The problem you aren't seeing much growth is because you're playing games that hardly anyone is searching for. Playing older games should be a side feature while you player new releases. The new games will bring the audience in and then your other videos will gain views as well. You need to stay current if you want to pull in an audience.

Most of all don't give up :P

Enjoy what you're doing and people will see that.

The content is what will attract viewers but your personality is what gets subscribers.

Its really hard to get noticed on youtube a lot of the time its a huge grind at the beginning but don't give up make sure to use all the tags you can a decent thumbnail be happy when you make your videos and most of all interact with your viewers. give it time you will get there :)

Dont beat yourself up, youtube requires so much time, especially if u are a LP channel (like me ^^).
What you need is a video to go viral hahahah, it isnt easy but possible. You need to do something has never ever been done before or atleast like you do it.
Hope it helped <3

It's quite a conundrum isn't it? On one side you have to play unique games that not many people play to set you apart from the rest... But at the same time you kinda have to play the same games that everyone else is already playing. Damned if you do damned if you don't. Perseverance is key.

I guess it sounds like you need to "sell out" to grow your channel but people subscribe to channels because they want that content, you are giving the audience content. If no-one is watching your videos then there may not be an audience there. If you are enjoying making videos then do not stop but if you want to grow you need a little give and take.

Like I said before make the backlog stuff a feature and experiment with other stuff too. I know many gaming channels that have a special feature where they revisit old games all the while they are staying current. The backlog videos would serve your subscribers because they have ultimately subscribed because they like you guys and the other videos (newer games, previews, alpha gameplay or reviews) would bring in more viewers.

I quite like the idea and I watched a few but I don't really know who it serves.

If you want to make a show you gotta serve an audience.

If there is no disclosure, it is very difficult for people to find their videos, because there are thousands with similar subject then start disclosing to stakeholders is interesting :)

I've been thinking about this a lot and I think you are probably on point in that maybe The Backlog isn't a breadwinner as far as bringing people in. I'll think about ways I can experiment with using more "up to date" content and games.
