Shorter videos means they're more likely to watch them all the way through, find a sweet spot then slowly increase video length over time.

I'm not really sure about the concept of watch time but I know that the shorter the videos, the more watch time you get
This is not true. Shorter videos doesn't mean more watch time. A chunk of my videos are 20+ minutes and are ranked 1st in many search results above videos with less duration. One of the best ways to increase watch time is set all your videos in playlists and feature those playlists in your channel layout.

I have to disagree, retention time is a real thing...you will see this on countless pages. Would you mind screen shotting us your average retention time on your analytics page? People usually don't watch a video for more than 3-4 minutes. That's just on average so I'd be interested to know what yours is.

I don't know anything about that stuff but Injustice was a bad a** game, took up too much of my time though.
