How to hide something in background?

I filmed the video and the light switch in the background which looks ugly but can't film again

Is there a way I can edit it out?

I use iMovies and Final Cut Pro x

Please help someone told me before that there's a way but I'm not sure how to do it
 
Is it a static shot?

You could mask it out, or crop the video slightly to remove the switch (depending on how close to the edge it is)

I'd say masking would be the best bet.

I only use Sony Vegas so that's all I'm familiar with. Look on YouTube about masking with your editing program for a tutorial. Basically what you will be doing is covering up the switch area with another area from your video, or even a photograph. If the switch is on say, a plain white wall, it will be easy to cover.

Thankyou I will do that as I use iMovies and it is a white wall on the edge so that's perfect thankyou :)
