How To Get The Ball Rolling?

Hi! I'm fairly new to YouTube, and I only have like 16 subs. I only use forums, to promote my videos. I haven't use Facebook or Twitter to promote it, or maybe I should try to do it.

It got me thinking, how to get the ball rolling? Because starting almost from zero like me is really hard. Also, I wanna ask you guys how long does it take for you guys to gain subs? I'm just curious, haha.

Oh, if any one of you have a guide to promote videos through Facebook or Twitter, please let me know. Thank you guys, love you! Have a great day.

Heres something that helped me. First read a lot of stuff on the fourms and comment a lot. You will learn a lot about YouTube in the process. Then once you get $100 yttalk cash, buy vip and put one of your best videos in the signature. You can only put videos in the signature if you are vip. This has gotten me about 100 views, which isn't bad considering I only have 900. Also, some of my first subscribers were from yttalk. Not everyone on yttalk will check out your channel, but if you post a lot of non-promotional threads and comments, you might be surprised at what happens even when you aren't trying.

By the way, you cannot measure time on youtube by how many subs you have. I don't know what you mean by "get the ball rolling" because that can vary from each individual on youtube. As of now, being on youtube for eight months I have gained 346 subscribers, and I gain (on average) 2-3 subs per day. Again the answer to your question varies so much depending on niche, content, video length, audience, etc.

However, I can tell you how to get the ball rolling rolling--not how long it takes. Just do this: make quality content, find a small niche, be the best at what you do, and be VERY active in your niche.

Definitely get yourself some exposure on Facebook and Twitter. It's good to hit all the bases when it comes to social networks so people can find you at every direction. As said above, stay very active on forums and interact with as many members as possible! This is essential to gaining the first stack of subscribers. Once you have people periodically viewing and posting comments on your videos then stay active with them and encourage them to share with their friends :)

Thank you so much guys for the tips! There's some writing error on my post, what I meant is "Because starting almost from zero like me is really hard" not "...isn't really hard", sorry people! I edited the post now. Anyway, thank you again for the tips. I will be active in this forum as I can. Please keep the tips coming, I really want to learn as many as I can about YouTube. Have a great day!

I think your channel banner isn't very good. If you can't make one you can always get someone else to make one for you on the graphics fourm. Also, just check out the tips fourm and the articles fourm and just starting reading a bunch of stuff.

I got my 16th subscriber today! I've been promoting myself on facebook, twitter, and tumblr, but not in a very meaningful way. I have asked facebook friends to watch and share videos that I think they would be most interested in. Right now my channel has 3 genres of content that don't really work together so I'm going to have to cull the herd; fashion, politics, and animation. My advice is to make good thumbnails for your videos, write your CCs so that google can pick up the text in searches, and comment on the videos of active tubers with a low number of subscribers (basically anyone on this forum.)

good luck!

Start commenting on those that are in your niche. And by commenting I mean have something supportive and constructive to say. It will get you extra exposure. But, never EVER promote a video or your channel on another YouTubers channel. It is considered bad form, and unless it makes a lot of sense (relevant video) just don't do it. Besides, anything that has a link usually ends up in the "to be approved box". And let me tell you, I have deleted quite a few comments from that box due to the shameless self promotion.

I was planning on making my banner for the past few days, so I finally did. Thank you for your advice, love you!

Thank you so much guys for other advices, I tried to do every single one of them. Thank you for helping me. Please keep the suggestions coming. Have a great day!
