There are lots of things that you can do to improve your traffic.
#1 Stick to one genre of videos per channel.
You can loose your Subscribers attention if you do gaming one day and Vlogs the next. Sticking to the one genre of video allows your subs to know what to expect from you, if you want to do different genres of videos YouTube allows multiple Channels per Account.
#2 Thumbnails
Making your thumbnails nice, bright, vivid and eye catching will ofcourse catch the attention of viewers, your thumbnail can be quite critical to whether a person will click on your video or not.
#3 Titles
Wording your titles correctly will allow people to find your video easily and know what it is about before even clicking on it. Grammar mistakes in your Title can be fatal.
#4 Description
You description plays a good role in how your video is ranked so making a good, well written description with keywords put into it (DON'T put keywords in your description on their own, I mean to use sentences about the video that will contain keywords).
#5 Be entertaining,
Your viewers watch time plays a HUGE role in your video's rank, so making sure your viewers won't get bored and stay for a while and like and comment will help your video rank better which will mean more viewers.

Kidnapping and locking them in my basement has been the most effective way to get viewers and subscribers.. you need a big basement though if you want to make any headway.
