How To Get More Subs through Twitter?

So I've been looking around on many forums on how to grow your channel and stuff like that, and virtually all of them say you should use social networking sites to help. I use Twitter the most, purely as it's so easy to access on my computer and phone and I prefer it, so I want to focus on that aspect first. I don't really want to ask my friends to follow me, so I was wondering how to get more followers on twitter that would like to view my youtube channel?
 
Be funny or entertaining on twitter and cause people to come into your community by twitter means, not by your youtube. thats how you promote it :)
 
Reason why you dont get new subs:

Your microphone is horrid in your channel trailer.
You seem young, people tend to dislike young youtubers.

Socialize with as many people you can on twitter.
Follow youtubers and interact with them, make friends - make more subs.
