How to get more comments?

Hey guys,

So my channel has a bit of a weird problem... I'm currently satisfied with the amount of views I get with my channel, but I don't really get any comments/feedback by anybody on my videos. It would be nice to know so i can improve/make better videos in the future. Subscriptions would be nice too but essentially I am looking to build a small fanbase that will request videos to make... tl;dr I don't know my audience.

How can I fix this? I post a variety of content so I don't essentially target one demographic but all of my content is comedic for the most part, whether it be animation, parody, original content, etc.

Thanks!

If you want more comments, DO NOT act like one of those big YouTubers who ask people to comment. That's just annoying.
What you can do is go over to your subscribers' channel and try to start up a conversation with them.

Try posing a question at the end of the video. Make it interactive and interesting, give people an opportunity to share their point of view on something everyone can relate to. Actually don't do it at the end of the video, find a way to do it soon in the video cause many won't watch till the end.[DOUBLEPOST=1354221678,1354221588][/DOUBLEPOST]

Actually forget my advice, this is way better advice lol

Hmm, I like the idea of talking with subscribers, but asking questions doesn't really suit the format of my videos... unless I started a vlog channel of sorts which I am against. I have asked in my descriptions/channel what type of videos people would like to see from me but never get responses. Video tags come off as annoying to me, and personally I never watch them anyways so I couldn't be bothered to make others' watch mine....

I agree with starting conversations with your subscribers, get to know them a little bit while they get to know you. Then they're more likely to comment. I don't have a problem asking people to comment, as long as I'm asking a specific question or for their advice or something. Like, I wouldn't say, "Make sure you leave a comment!" but, for example, when I did a video about not voting in this year's election, I said at the end, "I'm curious to know your thoughts on this subject, leave me a comment and let me know whether you agree or disagree!" or something like that. That can really help them remember to comment. I love commenting on videos, but (and I know this sounds stupid), I sometimes forget to comment. The reminder can help them remember, and also give them ideas about what to say.

I've found I get way more comments on the videos where I ask a relevant question than when I don't ask anyone to comment on a topic.

she explained what I was trying to say better than I did, but if you're not a vlog channel you can't really do that I guess.

It might work on a skit channel - like, do the skit, and after have a short segment of you talking to the camera, ask for feedback, ideas, whatever it is you're looking for in the comments!

Hmm, I'll look into doing this.

In the meantime, I'm looking for people to be part of a focus group for the first part of a feature length movie I'm making... it is a comedy. If you or anyone else is interested please PM me and I'll send ya a link!

Try starting some comments on your own videos that prompt conversation... Most people are so checked out that they won't even notice you're the same person who placed the video... You don't need to flame or anything, but the more people talk on a video, the more likely others will follow suit IMHO... Also, whenever ANYONE does say ANYTHING no matter how benign, comment back, even if they're hating on you and your content..."Sorry you didn't like it, I'll keep your comments in mind for my future content...

Mostly, people just want to be heard and noted, so create that interactive space for them to do so... GL

Here is my 2 cents.
Most of my channel is how to's or reviews:
I get coments on these because i incurage it. At the end of the videos I like to say things like
"So feel free to comment with your ideas and how you would have done it and if i like the idea i will tag you and add it to the discription"
or "If you have one of these tools feel free to tell other what you think of it and the price you paid"

The other half is pets and my 20 inch catfish
These then to get a variety of comments most not worth responding to. But i go out of my way to respond to well writen questions or sudscribers from channels larger then mine.
