So I know on some videos at the top right i believe is there profile picture and then the 'subscribe' button - however, Im not sure how i can activate it on my videos?! I ahve done it before on a previous account but i have no idea on how to find it now.

I dont think that is the one, Its clickable and you can then subscribe from there instead of going to the channel.

Thats correct, but it tells me to upload a transparent picture which i dont have! ah! Or.. i could just use my picture i use for youtube anyway?

It's recommended you use a transparent one, but it's not a requirement.
