How to Film With Noisy Roommates

I've Got It
Normally I try and film my videos when my roommates aren't home so that I have as few interruptions as possible to distract me and the camera as possible. I don't have a directional microphone yet so my camera picks up everything and I try to avoid that as much as possible. Does anyone have suggestions for filming when you have loud roommates/family around? I've asked them to be quiet before, but at the same time I feel guilty for asking them to pretend like they're not here while I film a video for 20 minutes.

I'm actually dealing with the same thing, and I normally just wait till they leave. However, if they are here, and I NEED to make a video. I'll simply do what I can, with what I got, and apologize for the noise in the background. If it's really low, I can normally edit it out with Audacity and remove background noise.

Yeah it can be annoying living with people who are noisy when your are trying to record. Just do the best you can is all. And i found a YouTube video on how to edit out some background noise with audacity. Super cool I like audacity a lot for that.

I would record the video with noise, then do separate voice over on the video when everything is silent, I know it takes lot of time, this is what film producers do :)

Your best bet is gonna be a good microphone
that way even if their very loud it wont show up much on the video, and if it annoys you then you can use audacity to edit it out :)

I still live with my family & my brother is in the next room usually shouting at his friends over xbox or something. I usually tell him to 'shut up for 10 minutes' but he's my brother so. Just ask nicely, they should totally understand :)

They understand that I make videos and to be quiet if I try to film, but sometimes it's just hard to ask them to stop what they're doing because I want to film something. I ended up waiting until this morning to film something instead of trying last night because of multiple reasons, noise included, and I think it worked out better that way anyways, but I guess it's something that will just take some adjusting to. And yes, a good mic when I save up for one!

I dont have noisy roommates but I have a family. Now viewers told me they could hear stuff in the background of my videos so I bought a noise canceling mic that doesnt work. Since I cant afford to buy a different one, I just tell my viewers sorry I have a family, I like heat or air conditioning or clean clothes. (whatever noise they point out) If they cant understand that I cant help that I have more viewers who dont mind it at all then I do complainers.
