A rough estimate of views needed will be around 100,000 - 200,000 per month at least with Google adsense. You are going to need to drastically increase your views/exposure. Collaborate with other channels, optimize your tags/keywords, make custom thumbnails that will catch the attention of potential viewers, make a good channel banner and give your viewers a reason to return (make valuable content or something the viewer can take away). Also, interact with your viewers, don't just ignore them. Even the negative comments but don't be rude even to them. And make sure you upload consistently. Recommended at least once a week. As well as be active in forums like this one and share your content on all your social networks but don't spam.
I hope you find this information useful and I wish you much luck, as that does play a larger role than you might think. Good luck to you and be sure to keep us all updated on your future growth, :).

Get enough views.... Why stop at $200 though? I started at maybe a penny a day, now I'm way beyond that. Just keep growing, don't limit yourself[DOUBLEPOST=1437499404,1437498919][/DOUBLEPOST]
views, ads, collabs.

You can earn more than that in a few days at a normal job
haha good point. I make WAY more doing my normal job than Youtube, but it's a rush to see video money stack up as a supplement.

Personally I make more selling merchandise... I have plenty of failed shirts, but once one sells I usually make a few hundred dollars with free advertising (I use my own strategy where I pay nothing, I've lost hundreds trying to pay so I've stopped that s**t!). My latest design has made me more in 1 month than I've made on YouTube in the past 6 months. Expand your options....

EmilyJM is right, it could possibly take years before you really start making any real money. I use to talk to Gregory Jackson (aka Onision in the YouTube community). One of the things he told me when I was first starting out was upload consistently and give it about three to five years. For most, that is how it goes. Just don't give up.
