How people gain subs so fast?

Even without Adword average retention on my videos 2 min .with average ling 6-7 min on my main channel. I did try to make 5 min videos( it was best time for my viewers) but it is not always possible with complex drawings.

I currently have about 1:20 average, before adwords it was close to 2 minutes too. But I only have 8k views so far most of which came from adwords.

I am finding nowadays with my ads that I'm getting some really bad retention. I think my stuff is just too random, but oh well I've gotten some subs
