How people gain subs so fast?

I've seen YouTube channels with videos that are just a couple weeks old, celebrating their 100k subscriber milestone. And when I watch the videos (a couple weeks later) they already have 30% more subs than announced in the video. I would love to grow this fast but I have been struggling, with only a total of 155 subscribers after more than 2 years of active uploading.

I think a lot of it has to do with uploading content that you know a lot of people will be interested in... on the other hand, it's important to stick to a specific niche. I'm new to this YouTube thing (viewing and creating) but from what I've seen, the videos that really catch m attention are the ones that make you wonder what's gonna happen next, with a suspense kinda thing. Hope this helps a bit. Good luck!!

Hey, you are doing alright in your channel! you have a few videos that reached the 1.5k mark after a few months! Maybe you could see what went right for those videos and produce more content like that.

I'm struggling to get one video to really take off. The video with most views for me is just under 600 (and thats after 3 months)

You need make your thumbnails little more colorful, screen shot not the best way to go. Some people making very flashy thumbnails on poopy video and people clicking on them out of interest to learn what's inside :) Not related to your question.
In my opinion it is battle of wallets on youtube this days. More you can spend better and steady you will grow. Out of experiment I opened second channel and have been publishing video ones a week and spending on ads 1-2 dollars a day. In two month I got 240 subs and 16K views + reply on comments

If I may ask, what services did you use for the ads on your videos? And would you recommend such a thing for a small channel to kickstart some growth?

People probably got tired to red this but I will repeat myself. I am using AdWords. For small channel AdWords will help a lot in the beginning of its journey. It will be small investment of 25 bucks and getting discount coupon from AdWords . You need to open NEW account with adwords and CONNECT IT with your youtube CHANNEL. After 1-2 days gooogle will send you discount. Use ONLY DISCOVERY option for ads with 0.01 per view.
for more look at the history of my post on my profile page.

Thanks a lot again for this info! I learned a lot from you in a different thread. I was wondering if you receive any organic traffic on this channel?
