How much video can I use? Fair use

One of my videos got a copyright strike.
I used a lot of a clip, from a danish tv show. Problem is that I see it a** fair use, because I used it to get out a point, commentary. So how much video can I use, before it gets illegal?
 
What quantifies as "a lot"? How much did you use?

Are you using it for educational purposes or for parody?

*Sorry overlooked the commentary part. But still how much did you use?

Around 2 minuts of it, it's from a audition for Denmark have talent. I dont really get it, there is a ton of x factor auditions on youtube anyway o0
 
You say you used it for commentary, but was the commentary about the piece you showed or did you show the piece to offer commentary on another topic?
 
2 minutes is a lot. Did you break it down into smaller chunks and preform an analysis or critique? If it is just an uninterrupted clip with you talking over it then that is definitely a legitimate reason to flag you. I think you would be fine if you just use very small 10 second increments at most while your break it down. But to using that much will definitely get you in trouble...

Oh, well, it was shown in small clips, tho, I think the longest one was around 20 seconds

Borrowing small bits of material from an original work is more likely to be considered fair use than borrowing large portions. However, even a small taking may weigh against fair use in some situations if it constitutes the “heart” of the work.

The striker may be considering that the small portions used falls under this. At least that could be a reason why~

Maybe, but thanks, the rules for fair use is a little hard to undestand, so im happy for a little help 8))
