How much to cut? Overediting vs risk of boring videos (Gaming)

Greetings fellow youtubers.

I'm currently playing Hyper Light Drifter as a playthrough serie and I struck a phase of the game where I spend quite some time running around trying to understand where to go next as well as trying to find all loot i can.
However...
I feel the videos are at risk of becoming too boring and I was wondering how much you really can cut away before they lose structure and context. I want to keep editing at a minimum to retain the feel of the game but I still don't want the videos to be boring, being just me running around exploring to find out where to go.

All tips and trcks are welcome!

Best regards, Mortinious

Starting out I actually wouldn't even recommend doing full playthroughs if you're thinking about growing at an optimal rate. Full lets plays only work for big ''gamer'' youtubers because they already got the dedicated fans to sit through all their content. Not many people are going to be digging deep for someone new on a game they already seen to watch 15 - 20 minute videos let alone 7+ parts of it. Maybe thats all that can be really done with that specific game I don't know, but whats gonna happen is each part is gonna have less and less views and if you look into the analytics later I can almost guarantee the average watch duration will be suffering which in turn will further make your videos harder to find anyway if I understand the system correct.

I would stick to clips and highlights, reviews or just anything that can make for a shorter feature of closer to 10 mins. Ofcourse if you absolutely just wanna do full playthroughs then do it, I don't wanna tell you what videos to make , it's gonna be hard either way you look at it but from my own observations going that way from the start is pushing more weight uphill then you have to.

You gotta also realize practically everyone is a gamer now also, and you have to create videos with a mindset that people have close to 0 attention span.

While it is true what you say I really like the playthrough formula as well as I'm not that concerned with gaining massive growth. However it sure is a good idea of not focusing too much on playthroughs in the beginning. Thanks for taking the time to compile this analysis of my current state, I will concider other options besides going for playthroughs. Alson gotta remember not everyone is as patient with let's plays as me ;)

Once again, thanks!

P.S this is not my first attempt at making a gaming channel and i know exactly what you mean with gradually losing view the longer the series is.

Some good ideas here, I do feel I need to try to make my videos shorter. it really depends on how the game is, trying to do missions, challenges or levels rather than doing some long videos (I do these too, but agree my shorter videos seem to work better)
