How much should I charge for a product review video?

I hope he succeeds, but I doubt it will work.

I look forward to hearing the outcome.

I think Social Influencers are the next big thing in advertisers and I can list articles from several reputable marketing specialists that agree on this. The question of whether one can get paid for doing a youtube review is not a question of IF you can get paid, it is a question of how much can you get paid? Free products are a form of payment too. There are youtubers out there that get paid $10,000 for one product promotion video. But we are talking about people that have millions of subs, not a few thousand like me.

I think from a logical marketing standpoint, product reviews are a must nowadays. Many, many leading marketing analysts have made firm statements that "A product without reviews is a product that will not sell." In the modern internet economy, product reviews are the new gold mine. The only question is what is a product review worth to a company. And there are people trying to answer this question with websites like Social Bluebook who's purpose is to give a value to the social influence of a person or a channel. Now obviously, site's like Social Bluebook are in their infancy and are currently nothing more than a hopeful dream, but the simple fact they exist means that efforts are underway to quantify the value of a Social Influencer.

All arguments aside, think about this. Would you buy an unfamiliar product from an online retailer that had zero reviews? How likely would it be for you to buy a product that has not only written reviews but also a video review from a common person (not a professional promoter) that actually shows the product being used in real life situations and compared it to similar products?

The only question is what is a product review worth to a company.

Sorry for being the *ss again but you are wrong. And that is why you ask how much should you charge. It is YOU that set your values. You got proposals? Ok, cool. Ask for the money you think you deserve or settle with free products. Watermarked low res files tooked you what? two three days work? If they say no? If they say ok 20$ one time pay?

Set your prices first!

You are not being an azz, you are just sharing you opinion, which is what we all are doing. There are no clear paths on this road. I am just feeling my way in the dark.

Here is how I see it. I am going to make youtube videos regardless. Why? 1. Because I need content for my channel to stay active. 2. The more content, the more views. The more views, the more subs, the better rank, and the more ad revenue. 3. Free new products give me interesting content for my channel and keeps it current.

As far as what my time is worth. I believe my time is worth a minimum of $100 an hour. Why? 1. I am the videographer. 2. I am the script writer. 3. I am the video editor. 4. I am the graphics creator. 5. I am the SEO expert. 6. I am the social media promotion specialist. 7. I am the website developer. 8. I am the product testing specialist.

You see, in order to do what I do, I need a whole host of technical expertis in different fields, each one of which is a job all on it's own for which people get paid high salaries for. But is anyone going to pay me what I am worth? Not on your life. So, I can not go by what I am really worth. I have to go by what people are willing to pay until I build enough value that people are willing to pay me what I am worth. In other words, You have to at least get your foot in the door, before will have a chance of getting inside the house.

Exactly right.

You're best approach starting off is to establish a relationship with a company, do reviews for free and reap the free product, advertising revenue and the exposure you will get.

Then when you are contacted by other players wanting your services (yes it will happen) tell them you are already in an association/relationship and any videos outside of that arrangement will have to be paid content. They don't know if that is a paid relationship or not. See how they react and go from there.

When you successfully deal with Chinese companies it's quite apparent that you will be added to a database players can access regarding external interaction. I've had many emails describing how companies got in contact with me this way.

Absolutely right! And this is something that creators need to get their head around if they want to make their channel into a business.
