How many subs is considered "successful"?

So I was thinking quite a few people have subs in the million and a lot have ones in the 100,000 so is anyone under 100,000 not successful? I mean what if someone has let's go with 10,000. They rake in 100,000 views a month. Is that not successful? I mean if not it almost seems to new people that it is impossible to do well. (Doing well as in being noticed not as in tons of views & subs right away) I could be overthinking it mind you.

I don't think YouTube success is about how many subscribers a channel has, or even how many views a channel has (However, it might be better measured by how much watchtime a channel has...YouTube is really focusing on Watchtime these days...). Subscribers and views help a little, but I think they mainly look good to other brands and help give the content creator reassurance of their content's quality. I think a channel's success can fluctuate, and I try to measure success on my own channel by how well my latest videos are doing, rather than how well my older videos are doing. ^^

Success can be measured differently from person to person. While for me it's when i can be fully proud of what i make. Yeah for others it's measured in subs or views or whatever. I feel like that's just the wrong way to approach it. What do you consider successful? Then aim for that

Like everything you should always ask "compared to what". What standard are you defining "success' with? Then you can answer the question more accurately

I think being focused on the number game isn't going to do anything but distract you from the true purpose of your channel! The real reason you started! Why did you start YouTube? To gain millions of followers? Or to do something fun and make new friends in the process?

True since i'll admit I do find myself subbed to more less subbed people than people in the millions. Granted I do feel as if a lot of the people i watch deserve more subs.

That's a great way to be. It's all about how genuine and hardworking a person is. But some people who have millions of subs started just like you :)! I love your support for the little people :)

True everyone did start with 0 subs and 0 views.

Success is so subjective. To some, a successful channel has a million subscribers, and to others, a thousand. If you make too high of goals right off the bat (say, wanting to make it to one million in a year, or getting to 1k in your first month), you can get disappointed when you don't measure up to an unattainable goal. To me, success is when you have an audience who enjoys your content. They didn't have to watch or enjoy my videos, but they choose to come back to watch another, and leave likes and comments. That alone is enough to feel like a success as a channel, and to encourage me to continue on. I still set milestones for myself and celebrate making them, but I have much more faith in my channel since I don't think it's unsuccessful.
