How long until tag changes take effect?

I Love YTtalk
So I found out that my pasta video is ranked on the second page when you search for "fresh pasta" which i probably a pretty good term to rank on so I changed "handmade pasta" to "fresh pasta" in the description and added the word paring into a new sentence later in the description. I also added the specific tag "fresh pasta" to the tags. Just wondering if anyone knew how soon I will be able to check if there is a change.

Thanks.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Sorry my english has failed me.

I searched "fresh pasta" and found my video on the second page and in an effort to improve this I have slightly altered my tags and description in hopes of reaching the first page.

When was your video posted? If it wasn't in the last couple of days, then the only thing that's going to significantly change your ranking is going to be your watch time. As more people watch it and your retention % improves/stays good then YouTube will see the video is a good source of information, and rank it higher. You may as well fine tune the tags etc too but it's not going to make as much difference as the watch time - tags, title, description etc are mostly important when you first post the video since before YouTube has any stats to rank your video on, it relies on that metadata, and gives you a few days of a "grace period" where you rank high regardless of watch time. Then once it has the stats, it switches to watch time being priority.

My lucid dreaming tutorial is the 5th result on the first page of search for "How to lucid dream", but it started off on page 3. However, it was page 1 for another term "How to lucid dream in 5 minutes", so once it got a bunch of views from that with high watch time, it started to move up the ranks for "How to lucid dream" too, and soon hit the 2nd page, then within a week later it was on the first page, and since then it's been climbing from the bottom of the first page all the way up to 5th place. :)

Yeah.

I added in a tag and now the video has disappeared from the search. I'm not too worried about it though because I wasn't getting millions of views or anything. At the end of the day I have to just concentrate on making the videos watchable and making sure that the thumbs are good. I mean there is no use having a video rank 1 for a search if it doesn't really deserve to be there I guess youtube knows what its doing.

I discovered that I rank on the first page for "pork and cider" and am surrounded by videos with 100k+views but this video is from before I put decent thumbs on my videos - I might try adding one to that. See if it makes a difference.

changes have taken affect, now three places higher on the second page. Will have to just be satisfied with that and hope retention is good enough to bring it higher - though to be fair there are a lot of videos that do what mine does at least equally as well. Cooking is pretty saturated - not Lets Play saturated, but still. Need to find USP, must find USP. So that was <24 hours for anyone who is interested.
