I am partnered, and I do have unlimited uploads. It's just anything over 15 minutes and your attention span of audience members dramatically cuts off.

That statement is false anyway. You don't need full partnership for unlimited uploads...

3-5 minutes. I mean, people have an attention span of a goldfish, so a longer video might not work unless you look like Ryan Gosling and don't have a personality like a potato.

Okay, 6 hours for me then...

There was no under 15minutes vote so I went with 5 to 10 minutes. Although I have broken this rule many times because I aint big on rules lol.

Hi Everyone!
Just a thread to see what you guys think a good length for a video is.
I know that it depends on the content of the video but what do you usually aim for?
I myself generally try to keep my videos under 15 minutes, with the occasional tutorial that goes for longer, but yeah I just want to get your opinion on what is a good video length
Thanks for Reading :)

I did a whole mountain bike ride that was 3 miles in 16 minutes, and people hated it so bad I actually deleted it! Well there was a lot more wrong with it besides the length.... I just got my GoPro so I'm not used to it, so the camera was pointing mostly down about 80% of the time, the editing program I used didn't seem to get along with Youtube (Adobe Premier!), and I didn't really ride that fast. Not to mention I didn't edit out the "boring" parts of going up hill to get to the awesome downhill. I have seen similar but WAAAAY more awesome videos that were around 10 minutes long and I watched the whole way through and actually watched the very next 10 minute video on their channel. If your content is good the whole way through, then time is irrelevant in my opinion

On the same note as video length what about if your video is a show? I was going to start a new thread for this topic but ill just ask it here. I have been working on a show and one of our worries is how long to make it. we thought about starting out small with maybe ten to fifteen minutes but we would like to do 25 - 30 min tops. would that be to long even if we were doing say amazing with views and subs?

As long as you can hold the audience it can be as long as it likes. Just make sure it's good and people will keep watching.

This statement more likely implies that you didn't get along with the editing software...

No actually the video that came from Adobe Premier looked amazing, but once I uploaded the file it was completely graphic raped by Youtube and looked like it was shot from an early 2000's camera phone. I used a GoPro Hero 3 Black at 1080p and edited in Adobe Premier.... I've been told I may have used way too advanced settings with Adobe and Youtube converted it or something... I'm still trying to figure out why my high quality video gets turned into vomit when I upload it.
