How long did it take for your channel to start growing?

Well, I've been at this for 3 weeks now and I have 30 subscribers and roughly 800 views with 17 videos... I'm also slowing down at the moment so I hope the engine starts rolling on my channel too :cool:
 
Depending on what you mean by "a grown channel" also on how much you apply yourself, what you want out of youtube, your relationship between yourself and your subscribers, how much and what kind of content you upload. If you say, 500 subscribers would be my goal for now, then you reach and go past that in say, a few months. Then by all means your channel is definately growing. For myself, my graphic design channel (which I mainly work on now) I upload every few days or so on average (2-3 a week?) and gained 300 subs in a month. So, to me my channel is beginning to pick up and grow but you may see that as a very small channel comparing it to other youtubers or your own personal goals.

I stuck a few videos up to start with and then didn't even log back into youtube for about 2 years. Just lost interest! Lol.
I then returned, put another few videos up and managed to get partner status with youtube, after which I started uploading more! Just escalated from there!

I would be highly suspicious of a new channel that has 1,000 subs in only two months.

As for me, it was a slow and steady growth for the first two years but I didn't see
sharp growth until the last year.
 
Well I started making videos properly around 5 weeks ago, I currently gain around 2 Subs per day and get 460 views per day (average via social blade stats). My views per day / subs per day is gradually increasing, I think it vary's for everyone. The guy you mention with 1k subs, how many views per day he getting? Subs can deceive because some people rely heavily on sub for sub which doesn't give you an accurate reflection of a channel.
 
I thought we were doing well when we first started, but it really took about 2 years for us to really get going. I think we were around 3k subs at the 6 month mark-which is pretty good, but nothing like the growth we've seen in the past 6-8 months. Growth is a relative thing so my answer keeps changing as our growth rates change.
 
I guess it just differs from channel to channel :) thanks for the answers guys. I'll just keep on doing what I'm doing and just keep hoping for the best
