How important is the channel banner?

It is then content that matters but I will say I like having a somewhat professional look to my channel. Plus it all fits in with the branding of your channel personally I wouldn't want to have a channel without a solid banner and I love the one I have now.
 
It's one of the main ways people will know you're a serious content creator and not just someone who uploads videos to host them or a personal account.

I went through 4 different banners and 5 different logos before I settled on what I have and even then I will likely update them as I go.
