I say this because ours isn't the best, but I am wondering if I should go through the trouble to design something really unique or if it's really not that much of a thing?
Graphics in general can be a major decider in whether or not someone gives your channel a chance. There's some people that click onto a channel and just think "Oh, this looks like crap. Better move on."
The above comments are very true, even if (like me) you are a new youtuber ive seen people sub and watch due to the channel art colour/look and feel and my intro make my channel look like a brand - also latley ive tried to improve my thumbnails so they look more pro - obviously being a small channel around half of the people prob wont sub yet but the ones that are definatly have done so through how much work ive put into my channel
I like to think channel art, and your YouTube avatar as a cover of a book. Obviously the cover doesn't impact or change the performance of your videos but it's a way to catch people's attention and pull them into your content. It's almost like a first impression, if you see a cool channel art you would assume the person has good content as well.
You don't really need to go all too crazy about the channel art, as long as it looks like you put effort on it. I prefer simple designs, but that's out of a personal preference.
It can be important, but i like your channel banner, simple yet it tells everything you need to know about your channel. Love some of your videos too BTW. especially the Doritos one
