How important is collaborating?

I'm relatively new to youtube, and would like to know how important it is to collaborate with other youtubers. My channel only has 12 subscribers, would collaboration help improve that number?

100% optional, but it can only help your channel, unless you do it tooooooo much.

Collaborations are a great opportunity to attract new viewers from other channels. It's like free advertisement in other videos.

Collaborations can help a lot. But at the same time, they may not help at all. With 12 subs you're expected to collab with people around your sub count which would be someone with less than 100 subs. However, that won't really be helpful at all.

From what I've heard and read, collaborations play a pretty big role in many You Tuber's growth. Checking out the collab forum couldn't hurt.

It's not important, but it can help.
Whenever one of my favourite YouTubers collaborate with someone, I always check out their channel and might even subscribe. I'm sure that a lot other people do this as well.

Everyone makes it sound like it will boost your views and subs, so go for it as it will help you.

Optional, but it's cool. It not only gets you more views and more subs, but it also help you cameo and appear on other people's videos. It's awesome. It's like spreading yourself across youtube and not just restricting yourself to your own channel.

I think its good as long as you don't do it all the time I've always wanted to try it but I don't actually know any YouTubers & I don't have many subscribers yet so I guess it will have to wait. If you wanna do it then go for it

Yeah, I want to try out collabs this year but I want them to "make sense". So they should also be something really fun and not just like "oh hey, look at this other channel".

But I did check out some other channels and their growth and several times I noticed spikes in their sub count on Socialblade and when I checked the videos around that time they were collab videos. Not exclusively but good collabs did help them.
