How important is a channel trailer?

I have had a channel for a while - just over 2 years - and have so far resisted having a channel trailer. How important is it to have one? Has it driven many subscriptions for you? If so, how many in comparison to new videos?

Well, other than the fact that the "channel trailer" gets a lot of views because it's the first video people watch on the channel, it doesn't do much unless you have a lot of traffic on your channel.

I would disagree, a good channel trailer can make all the difference, mine isn't all that good, but if you make a well thought out one, that has some humor, telling people about your channel, your much more likely to see them subscribe or at least hang out to watch a couple of videos you've posted.

Yes, because if you make a very good channel trailer, where you seem funny and interesting, people would want to watch your videos and subscribe :)

It's important but not always channel breaking. I would recommend using it. YouTube suggests using videos 2mins or under. But you can pick your most entertaining video as long as it's not overly too long and catches peoples attention within 5-10 secs. It does help any video you place there get a lot of views though lol

I do believe it is important to have a channel trailer. People who stumble on your channel know exactly what your channel is about! I personally use my Best of Montage as trailer, I do a monthly "Best of *Insert Month*". For example, I got the Best of May as channel trailer now, just some fun moments from that month and people know exactly what I do and who I am.
