How good is the Blue Yeti?

I've Got It
Does anyone use a Blue Yeti microphone? How good is it? Do you have the Pro version? Is the Pro even worth it? Also, I'm interested in the Blue Nessie and Snowball.

If anyone has any other good microphones, feel free to share them here as well. I've heard some things about the Audio-Technica microphones, but it seems more people go for the Blue microphones.

If you have a video so I can hear how the microphone sounds, that would be great.

I am more so looking for people who specifically use it and can provide an example of its quality and their thoughts on how well it works for them rather than a bunch of people just suggesting the microphone or going back and forth between them.

As KGA said, all of those threads have personal input on use of the Blue Yeti. JohnKenShow use the Yeti and it sounds fantastic (although that could be Ken's rippling man-abs resonating through the filter).

I have moved this thread to Video Editing, Recording Hardware and Software section of the forum. There are quite a few threads about the Blue Yeti, and I have heard a lot of good things about it.

Get the snowball it is the best for the price. I stand by this mic 100%. Its great for lets plays, podcasts, voice over work and it has a fuction of an ambient mic too which pics upsound from all around it or it can be used as a directional mic. The pro is worth it if you have the money to spend and want more features but alot of other youtubers and podcasters use the snowball.[DOUBLEPOST=1374268719,1374268562][/DOUBLEPOST]My video in my signature I was using the snowball check it out. This was a out of the box plug and play type thing I didnt adjust the volume of the game like I should have but the quality of sound from the Commentary was great to me.

Been using the Yeti (non-Pro) in almost all of my voice over videos and indoor interview videos. Video in sig is yeti mixed with shotgun.

It's easy to use, easy to adjust. I heard getting a stand adapter is tough since there is only one that works with it. I actually bring it with me to record on site with a lap top.

The audio quality is ok, nothing super fantastic but it's clear enough. I haven't had it peak or lose sound one me yet.

My second mic is the Rode Pro Shotgun Mic for my DSLR. The battery life on that thing is amazing, the quality is great. Both wind reduction and noise reduction is soso unless you get a sock. And it's limited to shotgun mono sounds.

Hope that helps!

The Blue Yeti is the best low-to-mid priced USB microphone on the market. It's one of the most used for solo podcasts and since it's very directional, it isolates your voice well while blocking out background noise.

If you're doing gaming videos that already have background music and sound effects, the Blue Snowball will do just fine for that use case. But if you're looking for clean audio, it's still too omnidirectional for a room that isn't soundproofed.

With price not being a big determining factor, choose the Yeti and you'll never really consider upgrading past that on the USB microphone side of things.

So the Blue Yeti would be the right choice if I am looking for something that won't have background noise (I don't have a soundproofed room)?

I am very satisfied with the yeti. However, keep in mind that it does pick up a lot of background noise. Cars driving by come through very well when im not talking.
