How does Youtube cope?

The other day i was wondering how does youtube cope with the amount of data being uploaded every second?
it is terabytes and terabytes of information being uploaded and processed everyday.

I managed to get some numbers but they are quite old (2006), and on that year youtube was at 45 terabytes of size, nearly ten years later this number has grown exponentially. Have we passed the exabyte mark?
 
Think of the bandwith cost of serving all that data for views too.

Plus all the data from analytics that they have to ensure is delivered accurately and in a timely manner. I know we all like to moan about YouTube glitches, but from an IT perspective, they really do an excellent job.
 
you can quickly check some statistics on youtube.com/yt/press/en-GB/statistics.html. We can see that 300 hours of video are being uploaded every minute!!! w
