How do you use Reddit?

So I tried to post a video of my music and I apparently wasn't suppose to do that but it didn't get deleted or anything and it got a couple of positive comments.

Also I tried to share a Vlog on a different subreddit and it said I needed at least 10 comment karma points and I commented on a comedy video and it still said I needed 10 karma points then I tried to comment on the same subreddit I wanted to post the Vlog on and it said I was doing that too much and to come back in 6 minutes.

Can somebody explain to me how to use this crazy thing?
 
They have very high standards there and many people seem like trolls. I would avoid posting your own content. Maybe have a friend-redditor do it for you? Would be less likely to seem like self promotion.
 
You can make your own subreddit.
Some youtubers have their own and allow others to post on it, too.
It doesn't get much traffic, but you are welcome to use mine.
Just look it up; it's the same as my forum name.
 
Reddit isn't very keen on self-promotion. If you use it, use it more as a tool like this forum, gear it towards providing to the community, instead of pulling it toward your own. It is one of my favorite sites and it is much better to actively use it, and hope for those interested to stumble towards your channel, then to throw your own content out there.

Use it as a tool to help friends, and in turn they will tend to do the same =)

They have some days where they do allow you to promote yourself, Saturday appears to be the day for music which is today so I posted one of my songs but I've been watching other peoples stuff as well.

Hmm, interesting! Well I'd say whatever works for you =) And mostly whatever works for your audience, if it is appreciated there than GO FOR IT! =D And thanks to the forwardness of the internet, it's pretty easy to find out whether or not the content is appreciated. =)
