How Do You Start A On-Going Conversation In The Comments?

Think of it like a conversation. If you're talking to a friend, you wouldn't say "Tell me some things you don't like about the cinema". That's an interview question - not a social question. Whereas "What's the worst thing that's happened to you at the cinema" might be a question you'd answer over drinks.

It's a tiny change, but it makes a huge difference in audience engagement.
Thats a good point. I'm gonna try that. Thanks! :)

Hey guys! So every new video of mine gets about 80-100 views. But hardly anyone comments. I tried the "Call To Action" method by asking them a question at the end of the video and telling them to leave their response down below, but so far it hasn't worked. Any tips?
All I can say is that take your time
If the audience isn't engaging that only means that it is not the correct type of audience
When there will be correct type of audience they will reply for sure even when you don't ask them anything.

U can take a weird / not popular statement that ppl dont like.. and in response (defense) react on your question. Make sure it is not YOUR statement... :)

Yeah I feel the same way! granted I am really new to youtube and only have 2 videos atm. I am going to try asking questions at the end of my videos, starting with my new video coming out this weekend. Overall I just need to be more vocal in my videos, even though I feel as though videos need to be short and interesting to grab the viewers attention. (until you get more active followers)

This is because most if your viewers leave the video before 15 seconds in.alot of people experience this except the big youtubers or if you are super entertaining

Yeah I agree, or if you are new and most of your views come from twitter/facebook; most people don't have youtube accounts to comment/like. Thats why I need to branch out to people other than friends :o

This is something I haven't completely gotten yet either. The thing is, don't ask for questions, make content that begs a question or a comment.

This is hard, on account your content IS a comment. All art is, regardless of medium. So how does one make their content about something and also incite conversation.

Well, a good way to do it is subtlety, but the problem with subtlety is that it doesn't bring in views. So you have to have something broad that you can insert subtlety into. Subtlety is not a marketing point but it is a conversation starter.

We have a lot of tools and they'll all eventually make sense.

I usually pick a topic people want to talk about and the title of my video will actually be a question. I also verbally ask a question within the first minute of my video and again at the end of my video, I do that so that even if the viewer doesn't watch the whole video they can still hear the question.
