How do you record video already online?

Lets say I'm making a video using my video footage, and recording a voiceover on top of it. I'm going to add in still pics every once in a while and I also want to add in video clips of something, let's say a generic 3 second video clip of people jumping out of airplane.

I don't have the resources to go video people jumping out of an airplane, but I know there are a ton of videos already on YT of people skydiving and I'd like to use one of those.

How can I record that, and would I need to get permission or need to link the video in my description if I'm planning on monetizing my video.

Part 2 of this question is, let's say I want to add a video of 5 seconds of a car chase in my video and want to use a car chase from a movie like... The Fast and the Furious or something. I know some of the larger channels always make YT videos, with blockbuster movie clips in their videos, but don't they get flagged, muted, or deleted for copyright infringement or something?

I'm using HitFilm 4 Express for editing by the way, and I'd rather use free software if I can since I don't plan on doing this much.

I don't want to give you the wrong information here, and I'm not a lawyer, so I would recommend glancing through the YouTube Terms of Service before using anything. From my experience, it is best to contact the person who originally uploaded the clip and ask for permission, just to avoid any copyright claims and such. I believe that this is under fair Use, but that is a gray area in the YouTube community right now. In terms of recording the video footage, there are websites such as "https :// www. onlinevideoconverter .com/ video-converter" where you can input the link and it will download the .mp4 file for you. And for the movie clips, I believe they are also under fair use, but I wouldn't go over 15-20 seconds just be safe. I just want to warn you that this is all from my point of view and what I would do, but there is a chance I am wrong. Anyway, I hope this helps, just contact me if you need any more help.

How do channels like ScreenRant do it? They make tons of videos about all the DC comics and Marvel movies (as well as other movie franchises) and use lots of clips from the actual movies. Obviously there are tons of other channels doing movie reviews with clips from the movies as well.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly by "fair use" does that mean it's ok to use short clips in videos without permission?

Just wondering, still new to making YT videos...

ScreenRant and other channels, as far as I can tell, don't ever use more than 15 seconds of a clip at a time. I believe this allows them to get by with Fair Use, kind of like copyrighted music.

So I can use 15 second clips of movies, music or basically anything... in my videos without having to get permission, and still be able to monetize my videos on YT?

Do I need to put anything in the video description?
