How do you motivate yourself?

So, I recently had to make my way back to the great ol life of college. -_- And since I've went back, I always have work to be doing. But now when I do get some free time to myself, I can't seem to put myself in the mood for making videos. I don't really like making videos unless i'm feeling the mojo because I feel like the video won't be any good otherwise. So do you guys have any types of practices to get you motivated for making videos for YouTube? IE: Petting a cat, kissing a baby, dipping oreo's in chocolate milk, etc? Thanks!

You should simply wait until you have the "mojo" as you worded it. I rarely make a video when I am not in the mood because I feel like "what's the point" in my head when I'm not in the mood to be recording.

I usually wait until I have a good feeling about my video idea. Trying to think of something useful or even original to put onto YouTube. But that's just me.

I agree with SilentRich. If I don't want to make a video I will not make a video. This may sounds bad for someone who asks how to motivate ourselves but the problem is; if you force yourself to do it, you're more likely to do something bad.

However, what I do also, is that every single time (even during a lecture ^^) I have an idea, I will write it on a piece of paper really quickly, or record it on my phone etc. In this I keep collecting ideas so when the time to make a video is here, I can be efficient and don't miss the spot.

Finally, I'm trying to follow a consistent schedule. I'm saying to myself "you will post a video every xxx time" In this, I have a "goal" to reach and this motivates me to record my videos on time. Plus, it's good for your subscribers because people LOVE consistency ^^

If you love it and you're passioned about it you won't stop, if you stop then maybe you're doing it for other reasons expecting something out of doing something you don't enjoy. Maybe making youtube videos is just a matter of time for you cuz you don't know if thats your passion or not. Idk if that makes sense to you but i've proved that to be correct for myself and was dumb for stopping what i love to do so now i'm 100% sure.

For me, personally, it was the fact that I made a schedule for myself.
Having footage for videos has not been that much of a problem, since I often play games with friends and record them if I feel they are fun, but editing videos takes a long time, and thus, patience.
So I made a schedule where I promised my viewers I would release a video every Friday and every second Monday.
This has made me more aware of how much free time I have and how I could plan around it to edit videos. Not to mention the fact that I have a steady flow of content being released, which is good if you want to get more views and stuff.

Before that, I was much like you and how the people before me suggested - If I did not have the right feel, I just didn't do it, but therein was the problem... I very rarely had the right feels, so I had to create a schedule so my channel wouldn't have huge periods of time of inactivity.

Well my motivation comes from wanting to one day wake up knowing that my job is to try and bring some laughter into the world. If you aren't feeling it then I think you are doing the smart thing by not forcing a video out.

yeah, you gotta be in the mood. If you don't want to do it, it will show based on your facial expression and body language, even when you try your best to 'fake it'. The mood will hit you, just wait for it.
