How do you keep from giving up?

Sometimes it feels like no matter what i do, i cant break though the glass ceiling. I barey get views and my sub count is stuck. It makes me want to quit. Any advice?

More constructively (and i had a look at your channel) here are some tips

-its only been 2 months since your first upload - have you been uploading consistently

- your channel isnt set to the channel layout. With a channel layout viewers can navigate your videos and playlists better and there is also an "about" section

- i suggest you put some custom thumbnails and also be clearer in your titles as to what your videos are about

I have been uploading semi-consistently (sort of, I had a lot of bad days)
I always do custom thumbnails ,and every time I try to improve something (be it new camera setup, better software ,editing etc.)
But I do feel like that my bad English is holding me back a lot, because I do sometimes get views but they usually leave after 30 seconds ( quite saddening to be honest)
Recently I feel like I've improved my audio/camera a lot. But in the end last year I had 8 subscribers and now I still have 8 subscribers, while I'll still be uploading and doing what I do, it is disheartening when it feels like it's all for naught.

There was so many things in life that I was so uncertain about. A career path, a job, friends. I wanted to be this, I wanted to be that, never achieved anything I wanted to be. I couldn't really find myself, a real lose cause. YouTube was something I never thought, I wanted to get into, I tried it. Sure it didn't turn out so well when I first started. Two years had past now I'm doing alright. Then I came to finally realize, this is fun! I really enjoyed editing, creating artwork on adobe, interacting with fans, and thinking about another great idea. It sure does pleases me, to please others. Having the pleasure of it all makes me continue to do what I do.

I'm saying this now. You might not know where you want to be now. Once you get into something you really enjoy, it becomes a nature. Quitting is not an option from that point. If you are still unsure, continue the path of uncertainty, you might find something that was missing the whole time.

Don't forget why you started youtube in the first place. Make a mood board so you can look at it whenever you're feeling down & wanting to give up! Watch your fav youtubers & get inspired, learn something from them, keep trying new things Take a break if you have to if you feel like video's are feeling like a chore.

I don't work on a motivation basis. I've been doing yt for 4 years now yet I only have 200 subscribers, so I have a lot of reasons to give up, but I don't because it is still something I want to do so it would only be illogical to stop, and sense and logic are things I care deeply about.

My way of thinking about it is based on the advice I hear from YouTube coaches like Derral Eves, Roberto Blake and Tim Schmoyer. Don't look at the sub count, focus on making good content first. You're only 1 month in, you got this! don't give up! I am not going to look at my sub count in until I get to 100 videos, and even then, many silver play button YouTubers had less than 1k subs in their first 1 - 3 years! Keep showing up, give yourself a chance

I remind myself of my original brief when I created my channel which was to review and talk about films that had either completely dropped off the radar or have had little to no representation online...for better or worse. I've largely tried to stick to that goal (Though I will admit to having done a few mainstream cult films in an attempt to court a more casual audience)

basically what keeps me from giving up is the idea that if I dont talk about these films they may slip even further into obscurity to the point where they more or less disappear entirely...I've had that happen to me on no less than 5or 6 occasions with local TV channels that broadcast material that is now utterly irretrievable and I feel like I cant let it happen again...

Dont worry mate and just keep doing what youre doing but make sure what ever content you are creating is fun for you having subscribers is only secondary what comes first is your happiness and willingness to create content that YOU think is fun, once people see that you are having fun they will just come eventually. I just recently started youtube so I may not have the experience to give advice but as a keen viewer on youtube I think it would be best to appeal the people with satisfying graphics to sell yourself to the public, to start a good avatar and banner should do the trick and thumbnails help alot too! eye catchy thumbnails always draw myself in as a consumer. I see nice art, I click to see what its all about.

but I think great art isnt what viewers stay for but its the personality of the person projecting themselves on screen and its their job to entice the viewer to watch them and make them stay, there are alot of commentary guides on youtube, I watched alot of those recently especially where you have to talk to yourself in third person those really help alot in order for the viewers to see that you arent boring and what not. im not pro at it but im really trying my best to learn these things as I am really liking this hobby and for god who knows until when lol.

view yourself as the subscriber whenever you try and play a game, think about it "would I watch this 25minute video that I made?" if the answer is yes then there you have it. if the answer is no then you got the answer. if you, yourself would not sit there for 25mins watching a video you made what makes you think others will?

its not much as I am not good at photo editing but I made you a little something to help keep your hopes up. use it or not its fine its just a gift to tell you that giving up just because things arent going your way is not the solution. hard work pays off

My advice to any talented content creator is always the same, value your time. You see, YouTube doesn't value your time, nor does it appreciate passion and dedications, it's a business. And in this industry, not everyone will succeed. And that's something you should acknowledge.

And that's not to say that you won't succeed. But the odds are definitely stacked against you, and any other channel that wishes to be successful on YouTube.

That said, talent should never be restricted to one platform, so consider your options. And if you're truly talented and passionate about content creation, then you won't be as restricted as someone who isn't.

But what do I know, I'm just a realist. : )

That's a very good point there, saying that not everyone will succeed. Personally, I'm just doing this as a side project, and it doesn't really matter to me if I succeed or not.
