How do you handle death threats?

KWKBOX

I Love YTtalk
I get a lot of death threats on my channel through email/comments/us postage. Should I just ignore and delete/throw away all these letters and keep moving on or should I succumb to their demands and take down my channel? I posted a video recently and mentioned my dog and now he is getting threats also. I have not told my wife yet because she will just worry. Currently I have just been deleting/destroying these because they are bad juju. Is it common to get these when on youtube? Any suggestions?

99.999999999999999999999999999999% it's just empty threats. So I wouldn't worry. However, if it keeps happening you may want to contact the police and they can track some of the letters or emails that you are receiving. One thing I would suggest is to not put anything that could otherwise reveal your location just in case someone is stupid and crazy enough to go there. I would say just ignore it.

Over the net you get these horrible trolls... as wigglenator as said, most of them are meaningless & are just words by bored children. If they do however get too much & you do get worried about some of them, take them to the police to see what they can do about it :) i sure hope it doesn't get too horrible for you!

How long has this thing gone? If nothing has happened to you yet, then it's all trolls, ignore them and move along. In case somebody actually did something to you other than writing stuff, I'd report that to who has to be reported to.
Also, are you receiving also written letters containing death threats? In that case I'd ring up the polive and ask what to do anyway.

I will start keeping them from now on. They all seem to come from different places but all have the same underlying theme. I have had mysterious things happen to my car but I think that was just due to the parking lots I was in at the time. Anyway thanks for the tips. I wish I knew what was so offensive about my channel that this keeps happening...

use a comment filter on videos and call police if they keep coming- especially mail

That's intense. However, most of the time, it's just people talking big over the net for no reason. I'd ignore it or escalate it to the police if it comes down to that.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. But I would actually save them somewhere encase one of them becomes and actual threat to you. Then you'll have proof of prior issues with them. You might actually want to tell your wife incase they seem empty threats. But try and reassure her that there are a lot of people on the Internet that just do this for fun. But you want to be aware of anything out the ordinary and your wife should be made aware of it too just incase something odd happens while your not around. you might even want to put the death threats on record with the cops but that's up to you. At least save them on your computer or Google drive or soemthing.

My wife is a worry wart but I will let her know and hopefully convince her that I do not need to wear a kevlar vest every time I leave the house...
