What do you guys try to do in order to gain new subscribers?
When you're barely starting out you can't just post random videos because no one will watch them, so what kind of videos do you guys create in order to gain subscribers?

Example: funny videos , interesting videos, etc..

I personally create funny videos!

I just play the stuff I play as best I can. Don't have the luxury of going too far out of my way to get new audiences with the work schedule that I have, but I did get a good influx when I beat the Witcher 3 bosses without taking damage on the hardest difficulty when the game first came out.

If I want to gain subscribers I usually go for the hot topics. I have a few examples:

1) I did a pokemon go bot video (the day it was released on a forum). That brought it lots n lots of new subscribers/viewers.
2) How to setup Super Smash Bros. Legacy XP. I made this video because I saw on another forum that people were struggling to set this up. So the viewers were very thankful for me making the video.

Once these rack up the views, you can start putting annotations to view other videos. Then they become gateway videos.

I mean you have to make content you personally enjoy because it shows in your final product!

With my animations, I aim for a funny factor but also make it so that people can relate to it in some way :)

Make exceptional content. There's really nothing else to it. We live in the world where "good enough" or "hey, pretty good for someone with low subscribers" isn't going to cut it. You should aim for content that is up there in quality as the top tier YouTubers out there. It's an uphill battle when you're at the low end of the subscriber spectrum, plus it's also very very saturated. You need to stand out and be above not only your peers, but the people/YouTubers that you want to go shoulder-to-shoulder with.

I don't, I do what many other YouTubers already do (car reviews and car show videos mainly) and am not particularly awesome at it or else I would have had 100K subscribers by now. Luckily I do it for fun and have some pretty awesome viewers that leave good comments.

I haven't figured all that out yet. I've only been going just over 2 months. All I'm doing at the moment is posting consistently every Friday and Monday at 5pm GMT all my videos are food related so it's within a nice. I don't understand channels that just post about random stuff.
