How do you get the right audience?

Rachael

I Love YTtalk
As I've been growing up and making more videos, I've noticed that I want to make videos that have a more professional and skilled tone. However my "fanbase" is a lot of 12-13 year olds that just want to see challenges, room tours, etc. and I'm trying to find an audience that appreciates the effort I put into editing and writing skits and stuff instead of just a funny challenge. Where do I find these people and how do I market towards them???

Keep doing what you're doing. Do the kind of content you want to and just that will attract those kind of people. Then just advertise your content like any other and those who have interest in that will view it. Be more direct fore that kind of audience whether it be in a specific section or category just reach out and prove to them the content you make is amazing by every video being made well.

And keywords are very important. Maybe also change up where you promote your videos. Look for forums or online communities where other people are either doing the same thing or enjoy the type of content you produce. Don't just promote though, become a part of the community.

*Jumps up and down* I appreciate your effort Rachael! I respect Your content cause when I was your age I had absolutely no idea what to do with my life or had the confidence to go in front of a camera on YouTube. That's a Skill!

Do the content you wanna do and you'll attract a new audience plus your loyal fans and friends as well. I learnt that the other day myself!
You Go Girl!

Put up the content. If most of your viewers are 12-13 then thats what your videos are probably being made for. Of course you can change something, the titles, the tags, but most likely it is the content topic that is attracting the younger viewers...

Bear in mind that the majority of users on YouTube are teenagers. It's the primary demographic. If you're OK with being a niche, just produce the type of content you want to produce and you'll attract the audience it's meant for. Perhaps find other youtubers with similar channels and network/collab with them or focus on search.

OK random I know but I went to your channel and your hilarious.. The video about Boobs in thumbnails had me dying! I hate it when people do that, but you obviously are a real gamer too haha.

Pretty much echoing everyone here, but yeah. If you want to do a certain type of content, do it! You might lose some people, but you'll be doing the things you want to do on your channel and via promotion through the proper sites, you'll get an audience for the thing that you are wanting to do.

That's a tough one, based on looking at your channel you look about 12-13 years old right? Your viewers feel that they can relate to you since you're about the same age. It tough to really convince someone in their late 20's to be interested as the topics they want to hear about are different than what you would probably discuss. I'm not saying to give up but it;s going to be tough.
