I started getting an audience by befriending people. These friends would watch the videos and then go and tell other people about it. I will note though, I never asked them to talk to other people about my channel, they just felt the need to c:
This doesn't work for some people because it takes a lot more time and you actually have to be friends with these people rather than just pretend to. However, I did meet a lot of new people through this method and they helped to motivate me to push better content.
A few recommended ways to do this is replying to people on social media, forums ect. to see if they have common interests or like I did, find a skype group that might want to play games with you and talk about the stuff you enjoy.
