Likes are the most important part. Even if a video doesn't have a LOT of views, but has quite a lot of likes, its ranking would be very good in the search results.
Likes = Quality (People like the video when its informative, useful and has good quality.)
YouTube strives to provide good, quality content, therefore, the video with more likes is placed on top.
You should probably ask your viewers to 'like this video' or 'give this video a thumbs up' in your videos from now on.
Search Google for 'FanBridge' (I'm not allowed to post links). FanBridge is an excellent site for developing your audience. It aims to increase your fanbase AND its Youtube Certified and its FREE, but the free plan doesnt have all the features, but what it does have is enough.
