So for example, If me and a friend were to play dark souls or gta or anything really together, how would i record both of our voices. and sync it to the gameplay. Any advice would be REALLY appreciated

You could probably get it done by running a record session of Audacity in the background while recording normally.
Then you'd grab both in-game sounds including your friend, and Audacity will cap yours.

Ah I probably should have mentioned. the friends don't speak through the game console. they usually use skype, but if there's any other way that'd be okay

You can get him to record his voice in audacity, then you record your voice in audacity, and then after the recording you get him to send his file to you.

What you should do is have your friends on skype on voice mode. From there use a screen capturing software that can record in game audio and microphone audio as well. I found that bandicam works well with this. Good luck! :up2:

If it is a console game then, just record the normal section and your friend can either use audacy and you as well and then unite the files. You as well use a pc screen recording as well (bandicam for windows and screenflow for mac) and record you conversation also put it to record the computer audio only and you can sync the audio for yourself as in counting and moving it on the title screen of the game or pausing that's what i do and tell your friend to count with you so you can sync him with you :)

For pc gaming i use OBS open broadcasting software. Its free and works great. It will record anything you hear whether game sounds or voice chat at the same time. Pretty simple to use.

For consoles im not sure. It depends on how you capture the video footage. If youre using a capture card and recording to to the pc it should work exactly the same.

You can separate your audio tracks with Dxtory . Just google it , there are plenty of tutorials for this .
You'll record your audio in 3 channels . 1 - game audio 2 - skype - 3 your microphone .
You don't even need to synchronize them . They are already synchronized . All you have to do is to import them in Sony vegas and edit them if you need to ( background noise and what not ) .
