How Do I Record Mic Chat

Hi guys.

On gameplay videos, how do I record in game mic chat? For example, when in a party with my friends. I see YouTubers do this all the time, and I was wondering how it was done.

Thanks.

Most of the YouTubers you are referring to tend to talk in Skype or Teamspeak, or some other external chatting system, and with them you just enable the secondary audio device to record whatever your default speaker is. However, recording in-game voice should just come through with the in-game audio.

Your recording/screen capture software like xsplit or OBS should be configured to record mic input and I use Audacity for stand-alone audio.

If I play with people over Skype, fraps will pick up their sound through the computer, and my own through the mic :p
To get the volume of me and them at around the same volume is the tricky part, though.

And it will pick up anything coming from your computer. :)

It depends on what video game system you are referring too. The xbox360 can record your friends voices, or game chat, but will not record yours. This is because the xbox360 does not transmit your own mic out from the audio out. This means you would have to have a mic hooked up to your pc to record yours along with the stream/recording. I dont know if the ps3, xbox one, or ps4 does this now or not, but the xbox360 doesn't.

Now, if you are talking about PC gameplay, then you can use a seperate program like others have mentioned above.

I use xsplit, but i can't get the in game chat to come through.

I use the Roxio Game Capture HD Pro and xsplit to bypass the HDCP.
Lio, read my above post. If you are on xbox360, you cant record your own voice, unless you have a mic from your pc set up.
