How do I know if I can use certain music?

See, that's one thing I don't understand. There are tons of Gangnam Style parodies out there. How do those not get flagged, muted or taken down?

When parodys/covers are made people recreate the instrumental so its their own.

because youtube don't have the time to go around flagging all these videos, if you are partnered with a network then it get's serious, they usually give you a week to remove the video anyway

Copyrighted music cannot be used but if its no copyrighted and you have permission from the artist then it can be used sometimes they ask for you to link their channel or website remixes of copyrighted songs can not be used since its considered copyrighted

I still find it kinda confusing. Some of the parodies still use the original song and I doubt they somehow got in touch with Psy to ask his permission.

I think if its parody it falls under fair use if u use different lyrics in a song or do remixes you would have to investigate for more info

anything from iTunes is copyrighted so don't use that
