How do I know if I can use certain music?

If you are wondering if its copyrighted then it probably is, get your music from royalty free music sites so you can be 100% sure

If is not yours you would know :p Lol!
Also is always an issue even if is royalty free, you would have to show what website you got it from and statement explaining this. Collaborate with someone, or join a network, I hear they'll supply you with all sorts of stuff :)

Always check the websites terms. Many songs may be used without payment tes but many times you are not allowed to monetize the song.

If it's a song like gangnam style it would be copyrighted make sure that it is royalty free and that the artist gives you permission to use it, there are alot of free music to use anyway :)

The only "non-copyright" music is that in the public domain, with NO exceptions. It's actually not possible for an author to release something into the public domain himself, but he can create a license that essentially does the same thing. So basically, the only way you can know if you are able to use a piece of material in your video is if you have written permission or a license to do so (such as the "CC0" Creative Common license, viewable here: http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/).

See, that's one thing I don't understand. There are tons of Gangnam Style parodies out there. How do those not get flagged, muted or taken down?
