How do I end a series?

I have a series ongoing which isn't doing as well as i expected, and i am thinking about ending it.. Should I just stop making videos on it and see if anybody cares enough to notice, make a final episode with a cliffhanger which suggests i may continue it in the future, announce something on twitter... Have u guys ever ended a series that was quite unsuccessful on your channels, and how did you go about doing it?
 
if they are doing unssucessful its obvious people don't want them. If you take them away without people looking they wont complain. silly as it sounds the videos you make are more for you then your subscribers. If you like the series keep it going. People will eventually come xD its up to you if you want to end. It's your channel if people ask just say it wasn't doing well.

Yeah I get what you mean. I like the series, but if its getting half the amount of views my usual videos get it demotivates me

They always will, there is a difference between someone subscribing because they like say Call of Duty or League of legends videos, or the subscribe because they like you. If its the content they will only watch related content. If not they will watch for you. Just make it if you like it ^^ motivation is something that is ever changing but regardless never give up. Set yourself apart. I am not doing well at the moment I only have had 60 subs since I started 3 weeks ago. But I try my best and will continue! if people see you enjoy it,whilst also being passionate there will be not a lot of people that will watch because of the type of video but rather watch to see you ^^
 
I agree. In simple terms, I think of it that in the same way. If you're patient enough, results could come, but ending it without many noticing won't give you criticism either. It's a tough decision in all honesty, because I may be thinking about this for a series I am working on as well.
 
I had a Sherlock parody series that completely bombed. Lowest views and likes I had ever gotten. I ended it by just stopping on episode 2, and making tongue-in-cheek references to how bad it was in future videos (that people did like). I.e.: Sherlock saying "so nobody wants to watch this..." was the opening in a video of mines that has 45K views. I think the self-deprecating humor helped me get over making the wrong call, lol.

I never really had a series but if I did, I would end it with a bang on a festive manner and end it in the lines of for now this will be the last episode of..... so there is kind of a open ending.
 
Dude, ultimately no one cares what you do on YouTube. True fans will gobble up everything you produce and those that are not? Well, they end up unsubscribing which is a good thing. You don't want those people following you anyway!

End it. Just stop and do not put any more effort into it. If your heart has left anything you produce will be affected by it. And one of the things that I always tell myself is I won't force out content. So what I am not uploading every week. It is what it is!
 
Maybe it's one of those situations where you should just leave it. Don't delete it or anything, just end - then in the future, if theres a lot of demand demand for it in the future from subscribers, just pick up from where you left off. Hope that's some helpful advice.
