How do I ask other YouTubers to make collab videos?

I have a cooking channel and I want to collab with other cooking channels virtually, but I don't know how to ask them. What I mean by I don't know how to ask them, I know you can message them on social media or even email them if they happen to have a website.

What I'm asking is what words do I say to ask a channel to make a collab video with them? Bear with me, I'm a very shy person and I've never done any collab videos before. But I know it's the best way to grow a YouTube channel. Thank you.

Something along these lines:

Hi insertnamehere

I follow you since quite some time now and your channel has been such an inspiration that I have started my own. I was especially enjoying your videos about insertserieshere.
Would you be interested in having a collaboration project about inserttopichere with me? I have seen that you didn't address it in any of your videos and as I have quite some experience with it you probably could profit from my knowledge.
My idea is to insertideahere.

I would be happy to hear back from you and keep up the amazing work

Say "Hast thou a desire to prepare a feast with yours truly???" that works every time for me.

It's hard to collab nowadays! The issues I have are finding someone who is as dedicated, promotes heavily, has good quality content, and is a good fit for what I do. I think it will be much easier to collab once a channel gets in the couple thousand subscriber range, because people are much more invested.

When you're approaching someone about a collab it's important to give them an idea of what they would need to do. So maybe ask them if they would be interested in a collab, and outline what the video would be about and what they would need to do for it.

Ok, but this like the Chicken and the Egg problem- how are you supposed to grow your channel using the #1 way to do so, which is collab videos, if nobody wants to make collab videos, with you? I'm a long way from thousands of subscribers.

I guess my answer (and my opinion) is that it might not be impossible, but it's very close. I believe the grind to 1,000+ subscribers is the hardest part of a YouTube journey. You have to gnaw and scratch for every single subscriber at first. Finding someone that you actually want to attach your name to before then is very tricky.

I'd maybe first think about what I'd like to do with them if they decide to collaborate and then send them a message like this;

Hi __________,
My name is ________ and I enjoy watching your videos. I have a channel called ________ and I do videos in a similar genre. In one of my recent videos, I _____________.
As our channels are of a similar interest and we share a common audience, I was wondering if you'd be interested in collaborating on a video with me? I had an idea that we could work on, where we ______________ but if you'd like to try something else we can discuss our ideas further.
Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon,

As for finding someone to collaborate with, it's not just the big YouTubers who might be able to help you. There's probably quite a few channels at a similar size to yours that would love the opportunity to try collaborating on a video. You've got nothing to lose by sending a message, good luck :)
