How did your friends and family react?

My co-workers are very supportive of me. Every time I go into work they all say stacy your last video was so funny or something along those lines and pretty much all of them are subscribed if they have an account. My family is iffy. They all know and some of them watch my videos and comment, but most of them don't even watch and if they do they make fun of me. My husband won't even watch my videos and won't help me film or anything. I do everything on my channel all by myself, except a few times a coworker filmed me to help since no one else would and I needed someone to hold the camera for the shots. As far as sharing, if it's a really good video a coworker or two will share it, but none of my family will help me as far as sharing the video or anything of a promotional nature. Maybe if I had a different type of channel they would, but the stuff I do is too embarrassing to them apparently.

I was scared as hell to tell my family, I thought they would think it was stupid, waste of time, etc. The first person I told was my big sis, and she was so excited about it. Her and I didn't talk too often ever since she first went off to college, and after was due to life in general getting in the way. It got to the point where we talked maybe 3 times a year. Once she saw my first prop hunt video she started talking to me more, wanting to know what game it was, could I teach her, etc. She quickly bought it and we have been gaming together online almost everyday now! She's gotten to meet all my gaming friends, been in a few of my videos, it's just been amazing. YouTube saved my relationship with my sister, and shortly after that I opened up to the rest of my family and they all love it.

My parents were proud of me. I would keep your content appropriate though, because my parents check my videos sometimes to support them!

They reacted in very positive way (especially the family). Some of the friends were mainly interested in the financial part of the channel. Anyway now the grandparents of our kids are some of our main critics - but it is a positive/constructive criticism! :)

I told my family a little while after I uploaded my first video, they were really supportive, especially my younger sister.
I got a lot of support from some of my close friends too, although none of them subscribed, (but that could just be because they don't have a YT/Google+ account), they gave me a lot of positive feedback which really helped motivate me to make another video :)

I don't believe you would get a negative response from your family and/or friends, unless they were really unsupportive, in which case, just ignore them and just do what you you're passionate about doing <3

I would say if you're stuck in school or at home becareful, you don't want to provoke unexpected reactions. My friend's reactions were not really reactions, they just didn't really care.

I've been met with indifference. Showing them some early videos - they thought it strange I'd put myself out there in the public domain. Most of my family aren't consumed by the online world and pay it little to no attention.

I do have a special person in my life who is supportive of my channel - they do videos as well on occasion. ;)

My family isn't exactly technologically hands own to even open their email accounts, let alone search something on YouTube. They know I have a channel, but none of them has ever watched one, mainly because no of them ever go on a computer. :P Even if they did watch my channel, it would be nothing new to them.
