How Did You Make Your Youtube Channel Grow Without Spams

It takes a lot of work, and a lot of dedication to grow "organically," and I'm not sure at all if I'm doing it right. I've been happy with the growth I've had, but my goals for YouTube are pretty modest. I think it's mostly doing the work, though. Make videos, improve your quality in some way every time you make a video (or at least try). Figure out what your audiences like (and you like to make) and make that sort of stuff.

Really have discussions in your comment sections, and when you comment on other people's videos, talk person-to-person, not channel-to-channel. Be a good subscriber. This means not cutting and pasting the same comment into every video someone on your subscriber list has posted (it's really obvious and annoying when someone does that).

I have yet to collaborate, but I have gotten shout-outs from some people, and that's helped. I also promote on other social media sites, and I post here and on other forums.

It's just plain old work. I see a lot of channels wondering how to gain subscribers, and they're uploading either constantly with low quality or sporadically and it's hard to know what their channels are about, because they seem to post about whatever the latest thing is to post about for every other channel that week (or they post about how it's tough to be on YouTube, which is....I don't get that).

Be patient. Don't give up. Learn something about your channel and your craft everyday. Encourage community. Do good SEO. Make good thumbnails and descriptions. Promote. It's always the way!

You don't need to spam at all. Participate in communities on other channels, collab, and just post videos. Recently I got a comment on a video saying they came to my channel because I posted on another channel related to my music, and they were watching my vids and subscribed: So, it's really just that simple. No spamming ever works, but promoting on Facebook, Twitter, or other sites? Nothing wrong with that if you do it right and target the audience you are trying to get to your channel. For me, I sing Celtic and video game stuff so I go to channels that do the same (and that I like, as well) and am an active part in the communities. Promoting yourself shouldn't feel like work, even though it is imo - you should be actively incorporating it into your YouTube routein. Post your videos to other places as soon as you've finished them, it's like clockwork

I let my channel organically grow, also - don't knock the power or organically growing while promoting. It helps so much, and feels like you're accomplishing a lot even when it's a slow crawl haha. I don't have a lot of subs, but I've gotten a lot more this month than ever before so I feel like that's a step in the right direction

But in all seriousness, I think the most important thing I did to grow my channel was continuously improve my content. I post every week and I'm determined to keep the standard as consistent as I possibly can, so I'm always looking up new editing tricks as well as loosening up in front of the camera as I go.

My work now compared to my work a few months is already infinitely better, in my opinion!

Best way to go about promoting your channel without spamming anywhere is to do what your doing here. Go around different forums related to the video you just uploaded and engage with that particular community.

Mix that with having collaborations with other YouTubers then you are well on your way to creating a base for your channel.

That's great advice! People who comment on your videos want to make a real connection with you (if they are not spammers) and deserve a reply that shows you appreciate them. I'm always very impressed when I get a genuine well thought out comment back from a channel I've commented on and immediately feel more loyalty towards them and that's what you want to foster. If your regulars and subscribers feel loyalty towards you as a person, they will want to support your channel and share your videos.

The person-to-person approach is critical as it's been said time and time again that people connect more easily with people, not brands (or channels). As for comments on other channels... only ever comment if you feel a genuine desire to. Fake cut and paste comments stick out like a sore thumb, whereas genuine ones will be a breath of fresh air.

This is a really good topic. I'm among the ones that on one side want to share his videos on other places, but on the other one I hate spamming my videos because that would obtain the exact opposite. Every time I post a video, for example, I share it on twitter,tumblr and recently also google+. Until few days ago I also had the habit to share them on reddit, but I don't want to fall into the spam-trap so I reduced the sharing on that place. Anyway I think that it's better to establish connections with other youtubers, if possible, and also help your natural growth with a bit of self-promotion.
I know the struggle for the growth because I'm a small, new channel, but I do my best without being annoying because I would punch myself in the face if that should happen!

It's funny, after reading this thread I Looked up what SEO is. I went to youtube for tutorials on how to use it, and the top videos were incredibly long and dull. So on the one hand I knew they were using it correctly, but I just couldn't sit through the videos.

I guess that just really goes to show that your content is truly the key to keeping loyal followers.
