How deep do you go into scripting your videos?

I know a lot people who don't script their videos but for me, my short films need to be scripted to able have a deeper meaning and cut out repetition. A lot that stops me from filming it is the writing process.

I look at such things as:
Storyline-
Theme-
Symbolism/motifs-
Characters- their strengths,weaknesses, goals, tone of voice etc.

It's a lot of pre-writing that goes into that you kind of lose motivation sometimes. For all my fellow scripters, how do you tackle this issue?

For YouTube We don't script at all.. Mostly because when I am not doing YouTube I am working on Short Films and Documentaries, which requires research and scripting. I guess for me the motivation is it is that I just have a passion for it. I don't know how to explain it. I used to write with a couple other people but that seemed to make me lose motivation because if they didn't get things done I felt it was holding me back. I guess you need to look at each project as something you think will inspire others and then it motivates you to know what you create will help others create their own things.

when I write, I don't go into that much detail. I mostly focus on storyline and theme, as well as character personalities. the symbolism/motifs is something I haven't really thought of, but it seems that could take the most time to think up.

with my shortened system, I don't feel overwhelmed, but perhaps I'm not considering everything like you, thus missing out on some important elements
