How can I get my channel to grow continuously?

Hi everyone!

So, I've been making youtube videos for a little over two years now and have not found a whole lot of success, unfortunately. I have had three videos that have been significantly more successful than all my other ones, two of them being very recent videos on prom. Those prom videos resulted in a subscriber increase from about 180 to almost 240 which is huge for me. They also got over 10,000 views each which is more than I could've even imagined. Unfortunately, I soon realized that the reason why the videos were so successful, was mostly if not totally because prom was a hot topic. The videos I've posted since then have been just as unpopular as the videos I've posted before the prom videos, so the prom videos being successful did not mark the beginning of my channel taking off, but rather a one time thing. My third successful video, a lookbook, was uploaded about a year ago, and gained me about 20 subscribers, but videos I've posted since then that have been really similar (other lookbooks) haven't done that at all.

So, I was wondering how I can get my channel to grow not just from 10% of my content. How can I know which topics are hot so all of my videos are successful like my prom ones? And how come some videos are not successful like others of mine despite them being very similar (both lookbooks)? Thank you for responding!

Try to use extensions such as tube buddy, social blade or adwordss. These can show you what topics are trending at the moment. but yeah youtube is a guessing game sometimes when uploading a upload, especially with the new algorithm, just keep working hard and it ll pay off

Hi.
First of all it looks like your channel link is´nt working so get that fixed so you actually link to your channel:) (that will help it grow)
Number 1 you have to create great content..IMO you should go with toics that got your interest already, that way it is easier to make videos, but if you are looking for specific topics that are hot right now you can search for that on YouTube too.:up2:

I'm just taking a stab here, but maybe make sure there are annotations on that popular prom video that direct people to your other videos, ones that might be of interest. I haven't messed with annotations really at all, so I am assuming you can edit them later on with an existing video.

Also I'd suggest uploading regularly and consistently, and make sure you have substance.. this is what builds a following.

my recommendation is to upload more frequently. if your upload schedule is sporadic, so will be your gaining of subscribers. whenever you have free time during the week, record several videos at once and upload them using the youtube scheduler. This will help if you have a busy schedule and are having a difficult time uploading consistently.

For example; i have more free time on the weekends and I upload 3 videos a week, Mon, Wends, Fri. On Saturday or Sunday, whenever i have free time, i get my videos ready for the following week(so 3 uploads) and upload them using the youtube scheduler. It's gotten to the point where i've been able to upload 6 or more videos at a time, so i've scheduled videos months in advance. This helps take the pressure off of "oh crap i need to upload a video today!" and also, allows you to take a week or so off if you need a break.

Honestly, uploading videos this way has been a game changer for me. I feel like i can tackle this thing now, versus prior I was thinking that there would be no way i'd upload enough to my channel in order to gain any traction.

But in summary i dont think you are uploading enough which is why your growth has been inconsistent. Upload more and you'll see more consistent growth. :)

Good luck!

I totally forgot you could schedule videos. I'm trying to get into the habit of doing what you just described and this helps tremendously.

Hey there, just wanted to say we have the exact same first and middle name. I've never met another!

Best of luck to ya :)

Thank you Psychotic Squirrel for the suggestion! I have been struggling with uploading regularly, so hopefully I can put your tips to good use.

mysticmotel: I've never met someone with the same first and middle name either :) I think I've seen some people on youtube that have the same name though.
