Help

if you have a couple bucks you can advertise[say with adwords by google for example] and maybe a user sees on of those videos you decided to promote and liked it they may share and get there friends to watch it and then who knows they might just overview your whole channel ranking in the views for you:)
Oh I didn't know you can advertise your videos.

There are no magical tips other than: make good videos. Or make really, really, really, really terrible ones. Both generate views.

Oh so horribly not true.
Just made a thread explaining why, about an hour ago.
Sadly I can't link it (I'm guessing my post count is too low?), but it's on the page on this very forum, called "SEO for your YouTube Videos"
Yes, your content needs to be decent (or humorously bad), but that alone doesn't have much to do with getting more views, at least no compared to other methods.

Learn more about keywords, use catchy titles, share your videos, and make sure your content is interesting. Most of all is to make sure your keywords are good, and your description contains your keywords.

Exactly. And with that in mind, have a look at the above thread.

lol, in a way it kind of works though, female YouTubers are always getting big for using "provocative" thumbnails, male YouTubers, not as much, but it still happens.

One of my most viewed videos is actually with me buck naked! That said, that was an artistic choice made for completely different reasons, but thought it was fun in the context here.

Solid advice there. It doesn't cost a whole lot. Just 10 dollars can bring you around 1000 views. So use it wise, space it out over some different videos, with solid keyword research, and it can definitely help you get started.

I was only semi serious :) but some truly awful videos do have a habit of going viral :giggle:

Oh, I get you about the bad video thing. It was more a note on good video quality and material. That alone has extremely little to do with getting views (though it's a solid foundation for getting views. It's much like a supporting pillar in your house: If you just put the pillar down, you won't magically get a house. But you can't build a house without the pillar.)

One thing that I always do is send an individual message to EVERY ONE who subscribes to you. People really appreciate when you let them know you noticed them. It also encourages future interaction from your subscribers. I have been doing it for a while and have gotten a very good response overall. Plus it makes a bigger impact when you manage to strike up a conversation right away! :)

This isn't a feasible option at all once you start having half-decent subscriber numbers :S besides, how do you even get the names of all your subscribers? Last I checked, there hasn't been a full subscriber list around for years.
