Honestly one of my least favorite things is someone talking about something totally unrelated to video games while a video game plays. If you really want to make the visual good, make it fit the commentary. Use pictures that illustrate your points and stuff. That's my opinion anyway.

Ooh in regards to the comment above, it's probably worth saying that most networks won't partner you if your commentary is not gameplay related. It's a copyright thing.

Totally. It is a thing with my channel. I am playing a game called Ostrich Island, and I recently recorded a blind drunk happy wheels ep, and there was a gigantic ostrich! It's like they're after me! Hahaha
